A complex dark and brooding wine with aromas and flavours of black fruits, violets and wild thyme.

Brassknocker by McArthur Ridge is their Village level Pinot Noir, the name is inspired from the unique Brassknocker soils which the McArthur Ridge vineyard are planted in, sited on expansive ancient glacial moraine terraces in Alexandra, Central Otago. Beautiful floral notes, aromatic and complex, showing ripe cherry, oak spice, and mocha notes on the nose. The palate is succulent with rich red berry notes, violets, oregano herbal nuances and fine tannins. The wine is supported by fine acidity and finishes with a long and balanced persistency.

Ruby red in colour, this wine has a bouquet of savoury red berry fruit, black cherry and vanilla that combine with aromas of black forest berries, cloves and dark violets, finishing with soft stony notes. Dry on the palate with a core of fruit, savoury tannins give it a great texture. The oak influence is obvious with baking spices, brown sugar and smokiness. Expect this wine to improve further with careful cellaring over the next 7-10 years.

Mt Difficulty is a boutique winery located in Bannockburn, Central Otago, and was named after the mountain overlooking Felton road and the southern Cromwell basin. As the vineyards are ageing Mt Difficulty are starting to see additional complexity emerging each vintage. Inviting and opulent, the palate is flush with sweet cherry & blueberry, followed by trademark earth & savoury notes and framed by baking spice and fine grained French Oak. The fruit floods through to the finish with a juicy balance, indicating acidity that will keep the wine aging well.

The grapes for Roaring Meg come from Mt Difficulty's Cromwell basin vineyards managed by their dedicated viticultural team. The addition of fruit from their Bendigo vineyard has lends a powerful, darker edge. Roaring Meg Pinot Noir features red, blue and black berry fruit aromatics. The palate is harmonious with rich dark berries and a savoury line underneath. A hint of spice and dried thyme complement the succulent fruit. Fine silky tannins frame the wine with a great flow and finish.

Dark cherry and wild berry with lashings of savoury brown spice, whilst lavender floral notes add in detail and brightness. Dense, tight, dark berry notes lead into a compact palate. The wine finishes with savoury structural tannins enveloping the wine. Dark cherry flavours flow right through the structure and finish the wine with a flourish.

Bin 23 derives its name from 'Cellar 23' at Magill Estate, where Pinot Noir barriques are often stored during maturation. It follows in the footsteps of the Penfolds Cellar Reserve Pinot Noir, a wine first made from Adelaide Hills grapes in 1997. Reflecting an evolving style, regional definition and complexities of the many and varied Pinot Noir clones, Bin 23 Pinot Noir is an elegant, lighter bodied inclusion in the Penfolds Collection. The relationship between Penfolds and cool-climate regions continues to evolve with fruit sourcing shifting to the island of Tasmania, famed for its pristine environment and quality grapes. A lovely texture on the palate, with fine, delicate tannins and just ripe phenolics. Steely acidity drives the length providing succulent minerality. Cherry pips, sour cherry and cranberry are complemented by an Aperol-like bitterness on the finish. Very seductive, the second glass beckons.
