The Mountaineer Pinot Noir pays homage to the pioneering spirit and sense of adventure displayed by mountain climbers confronting the forces of nature and celebrating the beauty and grandeur of the New Zealand Southern Alps. The preparation, passion and commitment are necessary to grow and make Pinot Noir in Central Otago mirror the challenges faced by these pioneering mountaineers. Ripe dark plums, cherries, violets and spice lead into a wine brimming with ample concentrated fruit flavours of red cherries and raspberries on the palate complimented by soft spices and toasty oak influence. Long to finish with bright acidity and soft ripe tannins.

Mt Difficulty is a boutique winery located in Bannockburn, Central Otago, and was named after the mountain overlooking Felton road and the southern Cromwell basin. As the vineyards are ageing Mt Difficulty are starting to see additional complexity emerging each vintage. Inviting and opulent, the palate is flush with sweet cherry & blueberry, followed by trademark earth & savoury notes and framed by baking spice and fine grained French Oak. The fruit floods through to the finish with a juicy balance, indicating acidity that will keep the wine aging well.

The grapes for Roaring Meg come from Mt Difficulty's Cromwell basin vineyards managed by their dedicated viticultural team. The addition of fruit from their Bendigo vineyard has lends a powerful, darker edge. Roaring Meg Pinot Noir features red, blue and black berry fruit aromatics. The palate is harmonious with rich dark berries and a savoury line underneath. A hint of spice and dried thyme complement the succulent fruit. Fine silky tannins frame the wine with a great flow and finish.

Dark cherry and wild berry with lashings of savoury brown spice, whilst lavender floral notes add in detail and brightness. Dense, tight, dark berry notes lead into a compact palate. The wine finishes with savoury structural tannins enveloping the wine. Dark cherry flavours flow right through the structure and finish the wine with a flourish.

A vibrant bouquet of black cherry and wild herb give way to a supple palate. Flavours of cherry and sweet brown spice are supported by finely textured tannins leading to a long, satisfying finish.

Produced from Central Otago fruit this is a wine with spicy red fruits on the nose. Medium bodied with red cherry and currant notes on the palate. Enjoy with all manner of duck dishes.

The nose is dark and brooding yet beautifully perfumed with concentrated black and blue berry fruits layered amongst aromas suggestive of exotic spices and dried flowers. The palate is taut and powerful with an abundance of ripe black plum, wild berry fruits and discreetly layered oak. Powdery fine tannins coat the mouth, contributing to a sinewy elegant core balanced beautifully by a fine streak of acidity which offers a lively backdrop to the abundant berry fruits. This is a wine that is both powerful and dense yet beautifully light on its feet.

Bin 23 derives its name from 'Cellar 23' at Magill Estate, where Pinot Noir barriques are often stored during maturation. It follows in the footsteps of the Penfolds Cellar Reserve Pinot Noir, a wine first made from Adelaide Hills grapes in 1997. Reflecting an evolving style, regional definition and complexities of the many and varied Pinot Noir clones, Bin 23 Pinot Noir is an elegant, lighter bodied inclusion in the Penfolds Collection. The relationship between Penfolds and cool-climate regions continues to evolve with fruit sourcing shifting to the island of Tasmania, famed for its pristine environment and quality grapes. A lovely texture on the palate, with fine, delicate tannins and just ripe phenolics. Steely acidity drives the length providing succulent minerality. Cherry pips, sour cherry and cranberry are complemented by an Aperol-like bitterness on the finish. Very seductive, the second glass beckons. A versatile wine to pair with food, especially duck and other game dishes.

The aroma is full of juicy plum, dark cherry and mocha with a bright wild thyme note framing the nose, continuing with luscious cassis character on the palate. The savoury cocoa and resinous spices from the oak and whole bunch fermentation help draw the red and blue fruits across palate, melding to a complex and concentrated finish.
